7/11/2002 Visiting this mosque was an amazing experience. It is more beautiful than pictures can convey- and the tiles esp. in area around the mihrab, are stunning. Of all the mosques I visited in Istanbul (many but not nearly enough!), this one seemed to me the most successful at conveying a spiritual feeling. I'm not Muslim, but walking into this mosque made me want to drop to my knees and give thanks for the beauty!
