 9/28/2001 What a truly memorable experience it is to have visited this mosque when I did. That’s partly because of the rain but mostly because of the funeral I witnessed. This mosque holds a special place for me because of a legend that this mosque represents Sinan’s love for Sultan Suleyman’s daughter Princess Mihrimah who was married to Rustem Pasa at the time. This mosque is an architectural achevement for having 161 windows. Surely, it ranks high in the annals of fenestration. Mihrimah Mosque is featured in the PBS TV series, Building Big. They have a nice page on it in their site. This mosque is out by the walls. You can just about see it in the distance in one of my vista shots. Be sure not to confuse this Mihrimah Mosque with the one in Uskudar built in 1548.
3/31/2002 Luca: for me the Mirimah Camii is the best Sinan mosque; and the decoration... i have no words to describe!
7/10/2002 This mosque is not in Edirnekapi (European Side) but it is in Uskudar. I hope this might help the correction.
7/10/2002 OK, you did it. You confused it with the one in Uskudar. There is a Mihrimah Mosque in Uskudar (better known as Iskele Mosque) but this isn't it. They were both built by Sinan. This one was build 18 years after the one in Uskudar.

5/27/2003 Sinan was never in love with Mihrimah, and Ottomans never showed their love by building mosques. Keep in mind that Sinan built mosques on order of the Royal family or the top officials and with their money.

1/10/2004 Unfortunately, this mosque is vulnerable to an earthquake, needs extensive retrofit which will alter its architectural integrity.
2/5/2004 Well, the biggest threat is that skinny minaret. At least twice, it has crashed into the dome during an earthquake. You can still see the damage in another shot. go here

Sinan carved his love on too sides of the city.
on 21 september and 23 march, when sun rises between minarets of iskele mosque, moon falls between minarets of Mihrimah mosque.
