Allah gave me a wounderful son in the month of April....i was looking for name, and a Turkish frined of mine told me this name.....it (The name)sounds gr8, so i am coming to know much abt Sinan now....can anyone tell me the real meaning of the name Sinan....i would be gr8ful

10/27/2004 Sinan's original name was Joseph (Yusuf in Turkish). In 1512 he was conscripted into the Janissary army of Sultan Selim I. At that time he converted to Islam and was given the name Sinan, which means "Spear". You can read more about him in a wonderful biography by Professor Arthur Stratton, simply called "SINAN", but the book has been out of print for while. Hope that helps!
