2/21/2003 beautiful
4/20/2004 It is interesting that the dark clothing worn by the Virgin Mary in the mosaics of Hagia Sophia resembles that worn in Gibson's movie, "The Passion of the Christ." In other words, it's like eastern Christian art, not western.
4/21/2004 Yes, Istanbul is where Eastern Orthodoxy started in c.1054. There is a Patriarchate there even now.
5/13/2004 hagia sophia was the center of all eastern christianity. the one on the left features jesus giving the world sorrow, and the other 2 dudes are begging him for candy
5/13/2004 no, they are begging him for chocolate milk, and cookies
5/13/2004 no, as you can see, the guy is holding a plate, wich symbolises roast turkey therefore, he is oviously asking jesus to go out to diner with him on thanx giving
6/7/2004 Very funny.
9/24/2004 You fools! the mosaic is one of the finest works of art. These pictuures were actually meant to take part of the cosmic identity of the one portrayed. The Emperors and Empresses are god fearing men and women so they are there being penicent for their sins.
10/12/2004 everyones an idiot
10/27/2004 Do you mean that in a philosophical way, like, "Everyone's a sinner"? ;)
7/13/2005 talking about begging him you guyz would be begging him to one day as you plead for mercy for wat will happen to u
6/3/2006 did you happen to notice the multi-pane , is it glass? in the center arch between the mosaics? is the blue tone a reflection of the interior, the glass clear? when was glass added?
11/28/2006 I am humbled by the beauty shown here, just sad we can't see more of it! God bless this church and all who work to keep its beauty for the world to see!
