MARY'S

ABOUT

This little site is mostly to thank Mary for letting me use her pottery wheel and for glazing and firing the pieces. I visited her studio while on vacation in 1999. I hadn't thrown anything in over a decade. I made a little saki set that turned out better than I expected. It now holds a less than prominent place in my wife's china cabinet. You can just about see it drying on the end of the workbench. [SEE IT]

In an earlier life, the studio was a boathouse. There are some interesting features you may have missed. Did you see the climbing wall? It's just to the right of the big doors. [SEE IT] I hope you didn't miss the hands ringing out water piece. [SEE IT] There are two kilns. There's a small electric one just inside the door [SEE IT] and a big gas kiln up the path. [SEE IT]

I also did the site partly because I wanted to do a "Virtual Tour" type site. This one is small but it works. It contains a hundred images cut from 18 photos totaling a megabyte. The images were cut using the slicing feature in ULead Photo Impact 5. It's as nice as any I've used.
